History:
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Aizawl East District was officially established on January 1, 1989, initially operating under the name District Chief Medical and Health Officer (DCM&HO), Aizawl East. The office was initially situated in Khatla until it was relocated to Mc. Donald Hill, Zarkawt in 1999.
Due to the absence of a dedicated office building for the CMO, the office had to undergo subsequent relocations to ensure operational efficiency. Consequently, in November 2018, the office was transferred to the ANM Building in Zemabawk. However, recognizing the need for a more suitable and permanent facility, the CMO office was relocated once again in 2021, finding its current residence in the Old Directorate of Health Services (DHS) building in Dinthar.
This final relocation to the Old DHS building marked a significant milestone for the CMO office, as it provided a more spacious and functional environment for the coordination and administration of healthcare services in Aizawl East District.
